New Web Access Security
Ohio Deferred Compensation has always taken great care to secure your personal
records. We are happy to announce another step to protect your identity by
further reducing the use of social security numbers.
Currently, your username for web access is your social security number.
Beginning in August, you will be able to choose your own username to replace
your social security number. We urge all participants to take advantage of this
new web feature. To access this new feature, log on to the web site using your
social security number as you have done in the past. Next, click on the “on-line
profile” button. On the “change personal information” screen, click on the
“Username Password Change” in the left margin. The next screen will allow you to
input your new username or change your password, if desired.
Your current username (social security number) will be displayed in the first
box. To change it, simply replace it with a new, unique username. New usernames
must be 8 to 20 letters, numbers or a combination of both. LETTERS ARE UPPER-
AND LOWERCASE SENSITIVE. The username you choose must be unique in our system,
so no two participants can have the same username. If you choose a username that
has already been chosen, you will receive a message directing you to try again.
Click “Submit” to process the change. The next time you log in to the Service
Center, key in your new username and password to access your account.
Once you have succeeded in changing your username, write it down and
keep it in a secure place. As with all passwords, take extra precautions to
protect it from unauthorized use.
Because identity theft is a concern to everyone, we hope this new Program
feature will provide one more reason to trust your retirement savings with us.
