LifePath Pricing
On October 25, 2006, all investments in the Barclays Global
Investors LifePath mutual funds were exchanged into Barclays collective trust
funds. These new investment options are nearly
identical to the mutual funds, but their lower expenses will directly increase
the net investment returns. Fund profiles are available on our web site and show
important financial statistics and characteristics of each option.
The conversion to collective funds also changed the daily pricing of these
investment options. As of October 25, the unit price of these options was set at
$1, which is quite different from the existing mutual funds share prices ranging
from $13 to $20. If you were invested in these mutual funds, your mutual fund
shares were sold at that day’s price, and an equivalent value of units in the
new collective trust fund was purchased. While the unit price was less, you now
own many more units. The new unit prices will change by the daily percentage of
increase or decrease in the value of the portfolio, exactly how the mutual fund
share prices changed.
If you want to invest in a single diversified fund, consider the LifePath
portfolio that most closely corresponds to your expected retirement date. These
portfolios are automatically rebalanced for current market conditions and
gradually change to more conservative investments over time.
