Annual Investment Option Review

Ohio Deferred Compensation uses an independent investment consultant to review the Program’s investment policy and options. This year, this consulting work was open to bid, and after reviewing proposals from several qualified consulting firms, the Board chose to retain Ennis Knupp + Associates (EKA). The Program has used EKA services since 2001, and will benefit from their experience and familiarity with our investment options.

EKA worked with the Board and staff last fall to make several improvements to the investment line-up. The objective of those changes was to eliminate overlap in the large-cap options, provide more low-cost passive options, and improve the small-cap growth option. These changes resulted from long-term strategic decisions by the Board to reshape the investment line-up. Please refer to the August 2006 Special Edition newsletter for more details.

An annual investment option review was presented to the Board by EKA at its March meeting. The Program investment options and managers were evaluated on many criteria. The only change to the investment line-up will be the closing of Fidelity Magellan on June 15.
